1. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

• Contact details — your name and email address.
• Birth information — your date of birth, exact time of birth, and place of birth, which you provide so we can calculate and interpret your birth chart. This information is unique to you and we treat it with particular care (see Section 4).
• Booking and message content — anything you voluntarily share when scheduling a session or contacting us, such as questions, topics you'd like to focus on, or scheduling preferences.
• Payment and transaction information — handled by our payment processor. We do not store full payment card details ourselves; we may retain limited transaction records (e.g., date, amount, service purchased) for bookkeeping.
• Website and technical information — depending on how our site is configured, this may include IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, and cookie or similar tracking data. See Section 7.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information above to:

• Provide astrology readings and calculate and interpret your birth chart.
• Schedule, confirm, and communicate with you about bookings and sessions.
• Respond to questions and messages you send us.
• Send newsletters or marketing communications, where you have opted in — you can unsubscribe at any time.
• Operate, maintain, and improve our website and services.
• Meet legal, accounting, and tax obligations.

We do not use your birth or session information for any purpose beyond providing and improving your reading and our services, and we do not sell your personal information.

3. Who We Share Information With

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as needed to run Shine Light, with service providers bound by their own confidentiality and data protection obligations, including:

• Our website host and website platform, Webflow.
• Scheduling tools, to arrange session times.
• Our email and newsletter provider, for clients who opt in.
• Our payment processor, for purchases.
• Astrology chart-calculation tools, if we transmit your birth details to generate a chart.
• Calendar and video-call tools, to schedule and hold sessions.
• Other service providers reasonably necessary to operate the business (e.g., accounting software).
• Legal or governmental authorities, where required by law, or to protect our rights, safety, or property.

We only share what each provider needs to perform its function, and we expect each provider to use your information solely for that purpose.

4. Sensitive Information: Your Birth Data

Your date, time, and place of birth are not ordinary contact information — combined, they are a distinctive and identifying set of details. We treat this information thoughtfully: we use it only to prepare and deliver your reading, we limit who on our team (or which third-party chart tools) can access it, and we do not repurpose it for unrelated marketing or profiling.

5. How We Protect Your Information

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards appropriate to a small business handling this kind of information, including:

• Limiting access to personal and birth information to what is needed to provide your reading and run the business.
• Using reputable, security-conscious third-party providers for hosting, booking, payment, and communications.
• Not selling personal information.
• Not retaining information longer than necessary (see Section 6).

No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure.

6. How Long We Keep Your Information

We keep personal and birth information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide your reading, respond to follow-up questions, meet our bookkeeping and tax obligations, and maintain business records — currently, [RETENTION PERIOD, e.g., “up to X years after your last session”]. Newsletter contact details are kept until you unsubscribe or we no longer need them for that purpose. You can ask us to delete your information sooner; see Section 8.

7. Cookies and Website Technology

Depending on how our website is set up, it may use cookies or similar technologies for basic site functioning and, if enabled, analytics including Google Analytics / Webflow Analytics to understand how visitors use the site. Where required, we will provide a cookie notice or consent banner.

8. Your Rights and Choices

Regardless of where you live, you may ask us at any time to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate information.
• Delete your personal information, subject to what we need to retain for legal, tax, or recordkeeping purposes.
• Unsubscribe from marketing or newsletter emails, using the link in any email or by contacting us directly.

If you are a New Jersey resident, the New Jersey Data Privacy Act (effective January 15, 2025) grants qualifying consumers rights to access, correct, delete, and port their personal data, and to opt out of the sale of personal data, targeted advertising, and certain profiling, when a business meets the law's applicability thresholds. Shine Light does not sell personal information and does not currently meet those thresholds, but we honor the rights above for every client as a matter of practice, not only where legally required. Residents of other states may have similar rights under their own state's privacy law.

9. Children's Privacy

Shine Light's services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
